Schedule Changes

We had a big shakeup at work recently when one of the Japanese teachers was told he was getting transferred to the Fukushima school on very short notice.  We had to scramble to find enough teachers to cover his very busy schedule, and for a little while it looked like I would need to work a half day on Monday.  Fortunately, we were able to increase some part-time teachers' hours and call in a couple former part-time teachers to fill the gap.  My class load got a little heavier, which I've adjusted to fairly well, and I'm teaching quite a few more higher-level classes now.  I enjoy the high-level classes, though they're challenging in their own way.  In the lower-level classes, you have to make yourself understood; in the higher-level classes, you have to be able to explain very complex grammar and the subtleties of language.

In my previous post about my schedule, I talked about how late at night I was getting home and eating dinner.  I started to have really bad stomach problems, which I finally figured out was indigestion from eating and then going to bed shortly thereafter.  I finally decided to try eating lunch as late as possible and not having anything after getting home, and my stomach issues cleared up almost immediately.  To make sure I'm still getting a balanced three meals a day, I'm now eating breakfast as soon as I wake up, a 'first lunch' before leaving for work, and a 'second lunch' around 3 or 4 PM.  I was really hungry at night the first week, but I've gotten pretty used to it by now.  I still like to go to the ramen place once a week, though now I usually save it for Saturday night.
